Please also take a look at Simone Rizkallah’s reflections on the Sabbath. \nAlexander Raikin \n\n\nAlexander Raikin is a Visiting Fellow in the Bioethics\, Technology and Human Flourishing Program at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. His research focuses on the dignity of human life and end-of-life issues\, especially on its impact on the field of medicine and broader ethical questions of social belonging. Raikin is a proud member of Kesher Israel synagogue and lives with his wife in Washington\, D.C. \n\n\nHis writing has been widely cited in major publications such as The Atlantic and the New York Times and in academic journals in the United States\, Canada\, UK\, and France. He wrote cover stories for National Review and The New Atlantis\, while his other bylines include City Journal\, Plough\, and the Washington Free Beacon. Raikin frequently speaks on national radio and on major podcasts. Raikin was an inaugural Richard John Neuhaus Fellow at the Public Interest Fellowship and EPPC. He was a Tikvah Summer Fellow and a Killam scholar with Fulbright at American University. DESCRIPTION:What is everyday faithfulness? Is it something we can achieve in this life? As believers in Jesus\, we are called to a life of faithfulness to Him. And there’s good news: God is invested in our faithfulness\, He has equipped us for it\, and He will faithfully finish the good work He began when He made us alive in Christ. \nOn March 6-7\, Glenna Marshall will walk us through portions of Hebrews to define faithfulness and explore the means of grace God has provided for our perseverance. The Christian life is not glamorous\, nor is it a quick path to spiritual growth\, but when we fix our gaze on Jesus\, our ordinary\, daily faithfulness produces a life of extraordinary faith. \nThe theme verse for the conference is Hebrews 10:23:\n“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering\, for he who promised is faithful.” \nWith 3 teaching sessions from Glenna Marshall\, worship and music with Jessa Anderson\, and various breakout sessions\, this weekend will be a great time of encouragement\, teaching\, and fellowship.

She will talk about her pro-life work.  There will be food\, mimosas\, and time for networking. Guests are encouraged! The event will take place from 11:00AM – 12:30PM. This event is only for women. If you have any questions email sstewart@theird.org. \n  \nSusan Yoshihara \nDr. Yoshihara advised the Department of Defense (War) from 2020 to 2025 at NORAD and USNORTHCOM and the Defense Security Cooperation Agency and University where she led the team that integrated the requirements of the WPS Act of 2017 into education and training for the U.S. security cooperation workforce. \nDr. Yoshihara participated in UN negotiations on development\, security\, and human rights from 2006-2020 as part of civil society\, serving on the Holy See delegation during the Commission on Population and Development\, and advising the UN Security Council at its Open Debate on Children Affected by Armed Conflict. \nShe served twenty years as a U.S. Naval Aviator\, leading helicopter combat logistics missions in the Gulf War and humanitarian assistance and search and rescue missions in Africa\, Asia\, and the Pacific Islands. She was on the faculty at the U.S. Naval War College and the board of directors of the White House Fellows Alumni Association and Foundation. \nDr. Yoshihara’s latest book is Women\, Peace\, and Security (WPS) in US Security Cooperation. Her other books include Waging War to Make Peace: U.S. Intervention in Global Conflicts\, and Population Decline and the Remaking of Great Power Politics. \nShe lives in Vienna\, Virginia with her husband\, Dr. Toshi Yoshihara\, and their two daughters. \nDr. Yoshihara holds a Ph.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy\, Tufts University\, M.F.A. in creative writing from Antioch University\, Los Angeles\, M.A. in National Security Affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School\, and B.S. from the U.S. Naval Academy.
