SUMMARY:June Professional Women’s Brunch
DESCRIPTION:Join the IRD on June 20th for our Professional Women’s Brunch. We will hear from Simone Rizkallah\, head of the Coalition of Catholics Against Antisemitism. She will discuss her organization’s role in fighting against the recent rise in antisemitism. The theme will be Brunch at Tiffany’s\, feel free to dress accordingly. There will be food\, mimosas\, and time for networking. Guests are encouraged! The event will take place from 11:00AM – 12:30PM. This event is only for women. \nSimone Rizkallah \nSimone Rizkallah is a founding member of the Coalition of Catholics Against Antisemitism (CCAA)\, now housed at the Institute on Religion and Democracy. The Coalition advances Catholic–Jewish solidarity\, confronts antisemitism wherever it appears\, and fosters principled solidarity with persecuted communities around the world. You can add your name to the CCAA statement by visiting www.catholicsagainstantisemitism.org. \nA first-generation American of Egyptian-Armenian descent\, Simone describes herself as a “cultural gypsy”—Western-born and educated yet formed within an Eastern ethnic and cultural context. This unique background\, combined with her experience in marketing\, communications\, media\, radio\, and theatre\, gives her a distinctive lens on the universal longing for identity\, belonging\, and spiritual depth. She holds a graduate degree in Theological Studies with an emphasis in Systematic Theology from Christendom College. \nSimone has served in youth and adult formation at St. Ambrose Parish in Annandale\, Virginia\, and taught moral theology and Church history as Chair of the Theology Department at St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Phoenix\, Arizona. She also worked for Endow\, a Catholic women’s apostolate inspired by Pope St. John Paul II\, and hosted The Endow Podcast from 2020–2023. You can view her talks\, publications and the Beyond Rome podcast at www.simonerizkallah.com

SUMMARY:"Praise God on the Organ" (Psalm 150:4)
DESCRIPTION:THE BLACK CHURCH WORSHIP EXPERIENCE AND THE HAMMOND B3 \nJoin Pastor Ovella Davis as she explores the historical\, musical\, and spiritual significance of the Hammond B3 organ within the Black church. Long considered the “voice of God” in gospel music\, the Hammond organ—distinguished by its tone wheels and Leslie speaker—has shaped the sonic identity of Black worship since the 1930s. \nThis event aims to celebrate and educate the public on the Hammond B3’s enduring impact\, particularly in the context of gospel music and the broader Black musical tradition. Featuring a curated group of experienced organists\, the program will offer a rich blend of performance\, storytelling\, and cultural reflection as it strives to preserve the legacy of church organists\, inspire new generations\, and foster intergenerational dialogue through sacred music. \nGet your tickets for in-person or virtual attendance below. \n\n\n\nGeneral in Person $34.99\nMembers and Students in Person $29.99\nGeneral Virtual $19.99\nMembers and Students Virtual $14.99
